Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 24, 2026

This policy explains what data softlane collects, how we use it and the rights you have under the GDPR: access, rectification, erasure, portability, objection.

1. Who is responsible for your data

softlane, a limited liability company (LLC) whose registered office is at 131 Continental Dr, Suite 305, Newark, DE 19713, United States, operates the softlane software marketplace and acts as the data controller for the personal data described in this policy. You can reach us at contact@softlane.io.

2. The data we collect

Account data: your name, your email address, your password (stored in hashed form) and, if you sell, your shop information.

Order and billing data: the software ordered, your billing address and country, and the order, license and download history needed to process your purchases and for tax compliance.

Payment data: payments are processed by our payment provider (Stripe). We receive only limited confirmation data and never store full card numbers on our servers.

Usage and device data: pages viewed, searches, IP address and information about your device/browser, collected to secure the marketplace, prevent fraud and improve it.

3. Why we use your data (legal bases)

Performance of our contract with you: creating your account, processing orders, digital delivery and license issuance, handling refunds, and support.

Our legitimate interest: securing the Platform, preventing fraud and improving our services, balanced against your rights and freedoms.

Compliance with our legal obligations: tax requirements (VAT/taxes as seller of record), accounting and record-keeping.

Your consent: optional marketing emails, which you can withdraw at any time. We do not sell your personal data.

4. Who we share it with

Independent creators: to provide support, updates and licensing for software you have purchased, we may share strictly necessary information (for example an order or license identifier). Creators act as independent suppliers to softlane and never receive your payment data.

Service providers (processors within the meaning of the GDPR), acting solely on our instructions: Stripe (payment processing), Vercel and Railway (site and database hosting), our domain registrar and our transactional email provider. Each is bound by a data-processing agreement compliant with Article 28 of the GDPR.

Legal obligations and security: authorities or third parties where required by law, or to protect our rights, our users or the public.

5. International data transfers

Softlane Technologies, LLC is a company incorporated in the State of Delaware, United States. Your data is processed in the United States by our providers: Vercel Inc. and Railway Corp. (site and database hosting) and Stripe (payment processing). If you reside in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, using the Platform involves a transfer of your data to the United States.

These transfers are governed by appropriate safeguards within the meaning of Articles 44 et seq. of the GDPR: the certification of these providers under the EU–U.S. Data Privacy Framework where they adhere to it, and/or the standard contractual clauses adopted by the European Commission, supplemented where relevant by additional technical measures. You can request a copy of these safeguards at contact@softlane.io.

6. Retention periods

We keep your personal data for as long as your account is active and as long as necessary to provide the service, then for the periods required by our legal, tax and accounting obligations, before deletion or anonymization.

7. Cookies

We use strictly necessary cookies to keep your session, remember your cart and your preferences; these do not require your consent. Any analytics or measurement cookies are only set after you consent, through the banner shown on your first visit. You can change or withdraw your choice at any time from the “Cookies” link in the footer, and manage cookies in your browser settings.

8. Your rights (GDPR)

Depending on where you live, you have rights over your personal data. If you reside in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, the GDPR gives you the right to access, rectify, erase and restrict your data, the right to object, the right to data portability and the right to withdraw your consent at any time. If you reside in California, the CCPA/CPRA gives you the right to access, delete and correct your data, and the right to opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of your personal information — noting that we do not sell your personal data.

To exercise these rights, use the data-export and account-deletion tools available in your account settings, or contact us at contact@softlane.io. EU/EEA residents also have the right to lodge a complaint with their local data protection supervisory authority.

9. Users located outside the European Union

If you use the Platform from a country with its own data protection laws (for example the United Kingdom, Switzerland or California), you may have rights equivalent to those described in section 8. We do not sell your personal data and do not share it for cross-site behavioral advertising.

For any request under those laws, write to us at contact@softlane.io; we will take reasonable steps to verify your identity before responding.

10. Security

We put in place technical and organizational measures (encrypted transport, hashed passwords, access controls) to protect your data. No method of transmission or storage is completely infallible, but we work to protect your data and respond quickly to any incident.

11. Minors

softlane is not directed at children. You must be at least 18 to use the Platform, and we do not knowingly collect personal data about minors.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. In the event of a material change, we will take reasonable steps to inform you. The date above indicates the last update.
